Kyokushinkai is a traditional Japanese martial art founded by the late Masutatsu Oyama, a person widely renowned as one of the most powerful martial artists in history. Through the teachings of Sosai Oyama, Kyokushin students develop strong physical and mental abilities through basic, self defense, and kumite (fighting) training that enable them to protect themselves and the people they care about. Students benefit from increased stamina, strength, and flexibility as well as greater confidence, self discipline, and contentment with oneself. Kyokushin members learn from local and international expert instructors from over 60 countries that are part of the International Karate Organization – Matsushima.

Training in Kyokushin

Training in Kyokushin is physically rigorous and mentally challenging as appropriate to the individual. Training is designed to help each person identify their own strengths and weaknesses and constantly work toward improvement. Becoming aware of one's physical and mental limitations is considered a strength in our dojo. Constantly working toward improvement and facing one's fears is considered a virtue. There is no 'one size fits all' approach that will work for all people. But everyone can improve with an open mind, a willingness to work hard, and a dedication to personal truth.
